LG2 Open Day for fishers; May 16th 2016
I think the newly-launched Lobster Grower 2 (LG2) project offers a fantastic opportunity for us to understand more about the developmental requirements of juvenile European lobsters, to enhance the effectiveness of hatchery stocking, and ultimately to contribute to the value and conservation of the UK's valuable lobster-potting fishery. We at the National Lobster Hatchery (NLH) hope that LG2 can be a game-changer for the popularity and sustainability of lobster as a seafood commodity, but we also appreciate that change of any sort is usually a bit scary!!! As such, I will be helping to host an event to try and answer any questions, queries and concerns that fishers and members of the fishing industry might have about LG2. Pop in to the NLH in Padstow any time from 12-8pm on Monday 16th May if you'd like to chat about it (if you come after 5pm you'll even be greeted with a pasty and a pint!!). I'm sure I will be able to address a few concerns that may be held by individuals, but I also expect some of your thoughts might have passed us by in the planning of this project, so it would be really beneficial to engage with anybody who is interested at this early stage, so we can make LG2 as positively impactful as possible.
